Spring is Here!

Spring is finally here and we are happy! As I sit here the breeze is blowing in through the windows and for this one instant all I hear are my typing fingers and my special "big" boy reading in his room. The little one is asleep and I have a few moments to sit. And while I thought of all I "should" be doing (laundry, cleaning, checking papers, etc) I decided to sit and soak it all in. While sitting for a few I came up with one word to sum it all up...thankful! How thankful I am to have what I have! Our life has changed in the last 12 weeks with the addition of Maxwell and while at times I was overwhelmed to tears I think we finally have found our new normal and I wouldn't change any bit of it! Its days like now that I hear Alex in his room reading that I realize how fast it all goes. It seems like just yesterday it was just Alex and I at home together while everyone was away at work. Now he is reading and growing into beyond what I ever dreamed he would be! I always knew he was special but he amazes me beyond anything. He is an amazing big brother to our new Max! Alex walks into a room and to see Max's eyes light up at his brother is an unreal feeling! Max is changing and growing so much right before our eyes. At 6 weeks I thought he was fussy and maybe even colicky but he is so sweet! He is my snuggler and loves to be held, especially by his mommy :). In between his talking and coos we do get a fussy patch but that open mouth full body smile makes all the fussiness worth it! I am so lucky and thankful to God for my amazing boys, I would't have it any other way. I can't wait for all our adventures this summer as we spend every waking moment with eachother but right now I will settle for a week off to drink all their love, smiles, laughter in! Happy Easter!

Max is 1 Month Old!

Shortly after Alex turned 5 years old Max turned a month old, which is hard to believe. It's hard to believe that he has been a part of our home for a month already. Max is doing well...gaining weight like crazy. Last week he was over 10 lbs, far from his 8 lbs 6 oz birth weight. We go to the Dr. on Monday again and I am anxious to see how much he weighs. Max is what I call a high maintenance baby, but that is just compared to Alex. For the past week he has been very cranky, angry, and screams all day. He has quieted down at night time and normally gets up, eats and goes right back down, so that is a blessing. During the day he has to constantly be on the move, be held, or sleeping, or eating (his favorite thing). I have been concerned that it is reflux, colic or something I am eating. However after trying numerous things and keeping a record of his waking and fussy times I am finding he just has cranky times. Probably a little bit of colic and gas so we are using Mylicon drops like they are candy! But either way Max has brought a new dynamic to our family. Our lives have changed and we have found a new routine but we wouldn't change it for the world. For now I live in a world of boys where I complain about smelly house, toilet seat up, wrestling, loud noises, sound effects etc etc...but like my husband said I should probably get use to it. And I am...and I wouldn't have it any other way. I love the 3 boys in my life!

Happy 5th Birthday Alex

On January 18th Alex turned 5 years old! We can't believe how fast the time has gone. It seems like just yesterday we were bringing him home from the hospital, all 5 lbs of him . Now he has grown into a wonderful little man who brings us, and our extended family, so much joy. We have loved watching him grow see all the things he can do. We are excited to continue to watch all that he accomplishes in life. Alex loves putting together legos, drawing, crafts, and most of all reading and writing. He has learned to read and is doing an excellent job. We are so impressed at all the words he knows and how he sounds out new words every day. At his party he insisted on reading all his birthday cards out loud before opening the present. Since becoming a big brother Alex has wowed us once again. He is so caring, gentle and loving with Max. We love you Alex!!!

Welcome Maxwell David!!!!

On Thursday January 7, 2010 Maxwell David Lang joined our family. He was born at 4:38 pm and weighed in a 8 lbs 6 oz. Quite a difference from our 5 lbs 1 oz Alex. The delivery went well and labor was a tad difficult andat points got to be a bit scary. But the Lord took care of us and in the end it worked out fine. We were able to come home Friday evening and it has been a good weekend at home. NIck has this week off and we are going to get Alex back to his normal schedule. He is in LOVE with his baby brother and is such a help. We thank the Lord for blessing us with two special boys!

Christmas 2009

MERRY CHRISTMAS!! We had a great Christmas holiday! We thought maybe Max would be here for Christmas but he did not arrive and still has yet to arrive. But it is okay, we enjoyed our last Christmas with just Alex. He was great and every year seems to enjoy the time of year more and more. Christmas Eve we spent the day at my parents house. IT was nice to lounge around, open presents, eat and hang out. That evening we went to Christmas Eve service at Mayfair. Christmas morning we made breakfast here with my parents and let Alex open and enjoy gifts from us and Santa. Then we headed to the Langs for family Christmas. It is always a riot with 4 munchkins running around. It's hard to believe that next year we will have 6 grandkids around the house. We enjoyed the day there and then came home to enjoy some time just the 3 of us around our house. The last couple of days Alex and I have been lounging at home and playing with all the new toys. Mainly legos! He builds and builds all day long! We took down our Christmas decorations and now wait for Max to show his little face. After Max is here we will be thrown into Alex's birthday. I am looking forward to having some time off of work but still am finding it weird that I will not return until March. God truly has blessed us and we look forward to see how our lives are blessed in 2010 as a family of 4!!!

Christmas Time!

We spent a day at Bronner's getting us in the Christmas spirit. Alex was able to see Santa and tell him everything he wanted. Of course his first item was "my baby brother." He will be disappointed when his brother is not here by Christmas. NIck's parents were able to go with us so that was nice. After Bronner's we went home and decorated our Christmas Tree. This year Alex really got into decorating with me and we had a very good time. I look forward to more years of decorating with him. He had lots of homeade ornaments to put on the tree from preschool, daycare and Gigi's house. We now have all our presents wrapped and ready to go for the big day.
